A man who allegedly robbed an east Kansas City resident Monday of cash and personal effects, including a set of gold teeth, was charged today in Jackson County.

Authorities charged Montez L. Turner, 27, of Kansas City with one count of first-degree robbery and one count of armed criminal action after being apprehended Monday night by Kansas City police.

According to authorities, Turner approached a resident in the 2600 block of Denver Avenue about 10:30 p.m. and demanded money. The suspect followed the resident into his house and allegedly took $1,100 in $100 bills as well as the victim’s watch, a set of gold teeth and an earring.

The victim later told police that the suspect ripped the earring from his ear. A struggle then ensued, during which the suspect fired two shots from a 9mm handgun.

Police soon arrived and apprehended the suspect. Before taking him into custody officers recovered $1,100, a silver watch, a silver earring with apparent blood residue and a set of gold front teeth that police located in the suspect’s left front shirt pocket.
